Why?
Miami-based dentist Dr. Bruno Sharp has created a safe, earth-approved brushing
alternative for children of all ages.
How?
Dr. Sharp's Strawberry Cream Kids Eco-friendly Toothpaste is consistent with his
philosophy of creating products which are fluoride-free, non toxic, eco-friendly andsafe
to swallow as none of his formulations contain any of the potentially harmful
ingredients most commonly found in traditional brands.
Back-To-School Tips for Safe Brushing & Healthy Teeth August 5, 2010
It is recommended for children to brush their teeth 2 to 3 times a day after meals.
Use a fluoride-free toothpaste that is safe to brush. Children can brush unattended and is even safe to swallow.
According to ADA (American Dental Association) and CDC (Center for Disease Control), more than 33% of American children have some type of dental fluorosis.
Since 1997, FDA mandates that toothpastes that contain fluoride (as an active ingredient) must include a warning label to contact poison control centers in case it is over ingested by children.
Dr. Sharp has developed *Strawberry Cream Kids Natural Fluoride-Free* *Toothpaste* that does not contain any bad chemicals such as Fluoride, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Paraben and Alcohol.
Use a toothbrush designed for children with soft and rounded bristles and a small head to reach back teeth and limited space areas.
Change your kid's toothbrush every 2 months or as soon as bristles are worn out, so they do not harm your kid's gums.
ADA recommends the use of non-fluoridated water for preparation of children's formula due to the risk of fluorosis (toxic contamination with excess of fluoride in the body).
Be wise with your kid's lunch box and meals: avoid sugary (sodas, artificial juices) or starchy (crackers) snacks, since they can increase the risk for cavities. Source: www.fluoridealert.org
The jury isn’t totally out on the benefits

Do you? If you do you might not be brushing your teeth the way you should, or should I say...you're not brushing your teeth with a good toothpaste?! I just did a review on a Natural Toothpaste and Natural Mouthwash by Dr Sharp Toothpaste which is much safer not only for your health, but also for the health of our planet!
It's a toothpaste without fluoride (fluoride-free) and it's also alcohol-free, paraben-free, and sodium sulfate-free (SLS-free). If you use conventional toothpaste you might actually be poisoning yourself with fluoride. Fluoride has a 9 out of 10 danger score (high hazard) according to Cosmetics Database and can cause cancer, developmental/reproductive toxidity, in between other things... Good news is that Dr Sharp has come out with a better solution! And they even have a natural toothpaste for kids (strawberry flavor) which, in my opinion are the most important to get them because children are even more susceptible to chemicals. Simply put: it's the best natural toothpaste I've seen.

Dr. Sharp Natural Fluoride-Free Toothpaste & Mouthwash Offers Eco-Friendly Alternative
DR. SHARP'S NATURAL FLUORIDE- FREE ORAL CARE LINE
OFFERS CONSUMERS AN ECO-FRIENDLY ALTERNATIVE
TO THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF FLUORIDE
Dr. Bruno Sharp, Miami's own Prosthodontist and leading aesthetic dentist, has developed a product line that offers a sophisticated approach to natural oral care providing innovative and proven alternatives to fluoride-based products.
Fluoride is a very controversial thing. To me there is no controversy at all - we don't do fluoride.
Fluoride was first used in a mass water supply ins Germany's Nazi prison camps. The reason for mass-medicating water with sodium fluoride was to force the people in their concentration camps into calm, sheepish submission. Scary & no thanks. This was just something I learned in collage and just looked up and re-read.
We all know about the harsh chemicals in our cleaners, our make up, our foods, but what about our toothpaste. That's right toothpaste. We all have our favorite brand, we use it religiously every morning and night. What are we putting in our mouth? As I write this I go to my bathroom and grab the toothpaste my teenager uses. Guess what the only ingredient listed is "Active Ingredient Sodium Fluoride 0.243%(0.16 w/v fluoride ion), so what else is in it? Obviously there is more to it than just Fluoride. As I research this very popular brand I am having a hard time finding the ingredients anywhere. I went to the manufacturers websites, no luck, so let's talk about what we know is in it.
Fluoride (aka Sodium Fluoride)is found in most toothpaste on your stores shelves. It is suppose to help your teeth right? But could it actually do more harm than good? In 1997 the Food and Drug Administration required that all toothpastes sold in the U.S. carry a label that read "Poison Warning" the warning reads as follows:"WARNING: Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional help or contact a poison control center immediately."
Dr. Sharp Dentistry: Fluoride-free Toothpaste & Oral Care
The Earth has its toxins: pollution, landfills, waste, plastic bottles. Every day, there’s some sort of violation that the world goes through, whether its oil refinery spills or noxious gases released into the ether.
Now, imagine if your mouth were to go through a similar assault (and if you eat lots of sweets and sugars, it very well may be going through it, right now!).
But there’s another culprit –fluoride– that previously you may have though as innocent as a rose. But fluoride has been linked to several health problems including dental fluorosis and even cancer.

Three simple ways to green your child's toothbrushing routine.
1. Turn off the water!
Running it the entire time your child brushes his teeth is a waste, and completely unnecessary -- toothpaste doesn't need to be wet to work. Turn the faucet on only at the end of the brushing session so your child can rinse. (This goes for you, too, mom.) According to the EPA, you can save up to 8 gallons of water a day by simply turning off the tap when you brush your teeth in the morning and at night.
2. Choose a better toothpaste.
Many conventional one contain artificial dyes, flavors, sparkles, fragrances, and harsh chemicals. And while the American Dental Association approves of it, many studies show that too much fluoride may pose serious health risks.
Miami’s own Dr. Bruno Sharp knows the value of a great smile! The respected Prosthodontist will contribute 15% of the proceeds from the online sales of his new doctor-tested and earth approved oral-care product line to Miami Beach Community Health Center (MBCHC) through December 2010.
MBCHC, a recognized not-for-profit comprehensive health care network for Miami-Dade County residents, will benefit from the sales of Dr. Sharp’s new oral care product line, which consists of fresh mint whitening toothpaste, green tea whitening toothpaste, strawberry crème toothpaste especially for kids, fluoride-free natural mouthwash, tongue cleaners and classic soft and extra-soft toothbrushes.
“As a supporter of Miami Beach Community Health Center, I am proud to donate a portion of the sales from my new product line to promote health and wellness in our community,” said Dr. Bruno Sharp, creator of the oral health care line Dr. Sharp. “It is great for us to give back while we promote dental health and do our part to impact the environment.”
